We are looking for a Data Protection Officer to advise and support the company on its data protection and privacy compliance and implement appropriate governance measures and foster a culture of data protection compliance.  

We are open to part time or full time for this role and can be based in either our London (E1 7PT) or Manchester (M1 1EZ) office.

What will you be doing? 

  •  Perform the statutory and independent role of Data Protection Officer, responsible for the provision of strategic advice, planning and compliance with all aspects of data protection legislation
  • Be the lead contact for the Information Commissioner’s Office and other regulatory bodies, as well as the initial contact for data subjects
  • Act as subject matter expert for data protection issues
  • Advise the company on all aspects of data protection impact assessments
  • Develop and deliver a programme of training and awareness, and draft appropriate policies and guidance for the company, fostering a culture of good data protection governance
  • Work closely with the General Counsel on advising the company in relation to data protection and privacy issues
  • Serve as the point of escalation for data governance and work closely with functional leads (e.g. Technology, Marketing, Data Intelligence & Planning) to ensure regulatory compliance and best practice


What do you need to have done before?

  • Previous experience as a Data Protection Officer within an online media, adtech or digital publisher
  • Accredited data protection professional qualification e.g. CIPP/E, CIPM
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills with the ability to communicate effectively with the highest levels of management
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to balance the needs of the business with regulatory requirements
  • Self-motivated and ability to work effectively in a busy and fast-paced environment
  • Expertise in national and international data protection laws, in particular GDPR, PECR / ePrivacy and CCPA
  • Understanding of the programmatic landscape and in particular, the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF)
  • Familiarity with privacy and security risk assessments and best practices, privacy certifications / seals and information security standards certifications 

 

Must-haves?

  • Expertise in national and international data protection laws, in particular GDPR, PECR / ePrivacy and CCPA
  • Understanding of the programmatic landscape and in particular, the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF)
  • Familiarity with privacy and security risk assessments and best practices, privacy certifications / seals and information security standards certifications
