About the Role
We’re now looking for a Head of Editorial to lead and evolve our editorial output with journalistic rigour, storytelling flair, and a deep understanding of what resonates with young audiences. You’ll lead a large, multi-brand team, setting the editorial agenda and tone across everything from viral features and breaking news to explainers and evergreen storytelling.
With 40+ journalists across the Group, this is your chance to elevate the writing, diversify coverage, and bring even more depth and trust to the content that millions rely on every day.
What the opportunity looks like
- Shape Editorial Execution Across Brands: Support the Director of Editorial in delivering editorial excellence across LADbible Group’s portfolio. Help implement content strategies across brands, ensuring each has a strong, distinct voice that connects with its core audience.
- Lead and Develop Teams: Lead day-to-day management of editorial teams within your remit-providing coaching, clear direction, and development opportunities. Set goals, review performance, and nurture a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
- Champion Editorial Tone and Identity: Work with brand leads to evolve and maintain each brand’s editorial tone; from LADbible’s everyday relatability to GAMINGbible’s fun, informed voice. Ensure the tone of voice is clear, consistent, and adapted to the platform and audience.
- Deliver Standout Content: Drive the creation of best-in-class editorial content across formats; from headlines and explainers to features and social-first storytelling. Guide teams to craft work that is high-impact, culturally relevant, and on-brand.
- Ensure Brand & Content Alignment: Collaborate closely with brand, video, and marketing teams to ensure messaging and content output aligns with each brand’s mission, tone, and business goals.
- Spot Trends and Act Fast: Stay plugged into cultural conversations, audience shifts, platform trends, and new content formats. Use these insights to guide agile editorial decisions and spot opportunities to innovate and break new ground.
- Drive Audience Growth: Use performance data and audience insights to guide content creation and distribution strategies. Partner with SEO, social and digital teams to drive reach, retention, and engagement across channels and platforms.
- Support Global Alignment: Work with global editorial counterparts (including US-based teams like Betches) to share best practice, align tone and strategy where relevant, and contribute to the Group’s growing international editorial footprint.
Skills and experience we'd like you to have
- Proven Team Leader: You’ve successfully led editorial teams in digital publishing or fast-paced media environments. You can mentor and manage with confidence, and you know how to get the best out of writers, editors and creatives.
- Editorially Strong, Creatively Sharp: You have a journalist’s instinct for story and a digital editor’s flair for packaging. You understand what makes content click and what makes it matter.
- Sector Smart: You’ve worked across, or deeply understand key verticals like lifestyle, entertainment, sport, gaming or tech. You know how to adapt tone and coverage style depending on the audience and brand.
- Audience-Led Storyteller: You think like your readers and viewers. You know how to create content that feels relevant, inclusive and fresh and how to lead teams to do the same.
- Social-Savvy & Platform Fluent: From Facebook and TikTok to YouTube, X and Instagram, you’re comfortable guiding content that performs on-platform. You’re not just aware of what’s trending; you’re already working out how to make it your own.
- Collaborative Communicator: You work well with stakeholders across functions, from commercial to creative. You’re clear, approachable, and solutions focused.
- Balanced and Focused: You can juggle multiple projects, switch gears when needed, and stay calm under pressure. You keep the audience and brand at the heart of every decision.
- Driven by Impact: You care about meaningful stories and memorable content. You’re motivated by audience reaction, team success, and helping shape editorial direction in a business that’s changing the way people consume media.
